Whats With the PR?
Oct 14th, 2007 by Anthony
Well it seems as if some funny things are happening around the blogosphere in regards to Google’s PageRank system.
Some blogs are reporting unexpeted drops in there PR, other blogs have been updated and some like this blog havn’t been updated at all! (and from previous experiences this is definitely weird)
Im pretty sure Google will look at ousting the entire PageRank concept over the next couple of years and it looks as they are already sweeping it aside.
I have even heard rumors that Google may be penalizing blogs that are selling text links and sponsored posts based on PageRank.
An interesting move by PayPerPost was the launch of their new service URLBrief, an app similar to TinyURL. Its not clear why they would launch a service like this now apart from trying to prevent Google from penalizing PPP posts.
But, if Google uses PR less and less in the future, I can’t see what the problem will be. Once again, content will become King (I mean quality original content and not SEO content) and you will buy and sell links not based on PageRank but on Click-throughs. Which I think is the right way to go.
All of this excites me because it could me better content and less spam! Of course, SEO’s will always try and beat the system, but so far, they have relied very, very heavily on PageRank.

Agreed Google Page Ranking system is now to hard to understand.
In my personal experience i made 2 blogs at the same time. My blog about credit cards is less updated than the other one that is regularly updated. I was surprised after one month the Credit Card Blog got PR2 but the other one that i really work on is still N/A. So weird. I hope so Google will solve this PR system they have.
