Here is an awesome tool for Mac users - NewsFire.   NewsFire is a desktop RSS reader that has to be one of the best looking mac applications around.

But apart from its killer graphics, it does feature a host of powerful features and an intuitive interface.   I find this RSS reader to very intelligent and it makes reading a ton of feeds really simple.  You can also create smart feeds that match certain criteria.  However, it will cost you $25 (there is a free version available).   If you are serious about research and information gathering then NewsFire is a must have app and I know of many pro bloggers who use this.
