5 Tips for Getting the Most out of a Post
Aug 2nd, 2007 by Anthony
Every now and then, you come across a post which just shines above the rest. I wanted to find out what makes these posts shine and here is what I found out:
- Length of Post - these feature posts, are often quite lengthy and around 500 words or so. But just write long posts for the sake of it, make sure everything you write is of value to the reader.
- Whitespace - Spacing is a very important part of your post. Make sure your posts are broken into sections and not just clumped together in one paragraph. Use a new paragraph for each new point you make.
- Pictures - I don’t use pictures enough on this blog, but I know how important they are. Pictures can break up the content any post look more attractive and readable. (I would have included a picture on this post, but I am writing this on my new Macbook which doesnt have photoshop yet)
- Links - If you talk about another site in your post, link to it. Do the same if you refer back to previous posts on your blog. Don’t make the reader have to any searching! You can also link to similar articles on other blogs. Not only does this provide a really useful resource for your readers, you could be promoting your own blog.
- Questions - Make your posts interactive and encourage reader participation by asking your readers questions, I do it all the time and not only do I get lots of comments, but it makes the post a whole lot more friendly and inviting.
So there are some quick tips on getting the most out of each and every post. By doing this, you are increasing the chances blogs linking to you.
