Does Your Blog Have a Brand?
Jul 4th, 2007 by Anthony
Branding is uber important in the world of advertising and marketing, but did you know that the same rules are important on blogs. Think of a red car - chances are you will be thinking about a Ferrari, why? Because Ferrari has very successfully used branding through the color red.
There are millions of blogs online, so its important to try and differentiate yours. And this can be achieved through some simple branding - color, logo, promotion, design and content.
Color - Do you use a consistent color/set of colors across your blog? Will people remember your blogs color?
Logo - Have you designed a unique logo? Does it match the look and feel of your blog? Is it memorable?
Promotion - Does your advertising (banners etc.) fit the look and feel of your blog? Will people be able to associate your advertising with your blog by just looking at it?
Design - Do you have a professional design? Have you customized your blogging theme to give it a unique look? Are you using your branding color/colors?
Content - Does your writing match the topic (humorous, analytical etc.)
So lets take these concepts and simply apply it to my blogging header:

Here are some points I used when designing my blogs brand:
- I have used bright colors, mainly blue. A lot of other blogs in this niche have dull colors.
- The logo design is the same used for the DoshTalk and NetFlask logos. Making this blog instantly recognizable as part of this network.
- The human/globe graphic is part of a set, and I will be using other graphics from this set throughout this blogs content. This is kind of like a mascot.
Can you pick the other ways I have branded this blog? I still am working on branding my advertisements but I think I have got off to a good start

Well, I thought of my old Ford Pinto, but anyway…. Great list of ideas. I think I’m probably doing well with pink. I don’t know what the heck I am doing with my writing, though.
