Im a huge fan of RSS. In fact, the majority of blogs I read, are done so through Google Reader. Its not just me, rss is becoming very popular and definitely more mainstream. So its important that you make subscribing to your blogs RSS feed as easy as possible.

So here are 4 very simple ways to increase your number of rss subscribers.

1. Use Feedburner. You will have no idea how many people are actually using your feed, if you aren’t using something like FeedBurner. Not only will they track your feed, they will provide essential tools that will help you promote it as well.
2. Chicklets. For an example of chicklets just check out my righthand sidebar under the heading “Feed Tools”. These chicklets allow users to subscribe to my feed with just a couple of clicks using their favorite reader. There are lots of feed readers, and in turn lots of chicklets, but I recommend only using a max of 6. I have gone for the top 4 feed readers.
3. Email Subscription. Feedburner offers a built in email subscription service to allow your users to subscribe to your feed via email. If FeedBurner isn’t your thing, Zookoda is another good alternative where you can create your own blog newsletter.
4. If Your Popular - Show It. If you have 50+ subscribers than you should consider adding the FeedBurner Feedcount thingy to your blog. This gives instant credibility! Be careful, if you add FeedCount with only a few subscribers you could do real damage.
